and I will give you rest." ~Matthew 11:28

and thou hast healed me."~ Psalm 30:2

Jesus Plus What?

What do you need in your life to be saved ? Is it Jesus plus prayer? Jesus plus reading the Bible? Jesus plus doing good works? Jesus plus confessing things?  Jesus plus going to church? I am here to tell you all of these are WRONG. All you need is JESUS and faith in Him. Let me say this again, all you need is Jesus in your life!! If you have faith in Jesus everything else will line up. Prayer, Bible reading, good works are all great things, don't get me wrong, but they are not things that determine the end result. When you have faith in Jesus he will begin to change you, so the things you did before you won't want to continue. You will strive to be Christ-like because Jesus will be changing you from the inside out. Meaning you will want to read the bible, pray and help others,  instead of feeling like its a requirement to keep/gain something. Jesus is a gift for you  and you can't earn a gift. Romans 6:23 “ For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord”

A lot of people and even some religions think if I do these certain things then I will be forgiven or given grace, but thats not how it works. God doesn't change based on what we do/don't do. He is never changing, humans are the ones that do the changing.

Lets look at a few verses:

Romans 10:9-10 says
That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.”

Acts 4:12
Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved”

John 14:6
"Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth and the life: no man cometh unto the Father but by me”

These three verses lets us know straight up that Jesus is the way, and without faith in Him we can't reach God. Jesus also tells us He is the light of the world, and he wants us to believe in him. He is not going to force you to believe in him, he will only give you the choice.

John 8:12
“ Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.”

John 12:36
While ye have light, believe in the light, that ye may be the children of the light. These things spake Jesus, and departed, and did hide himself from them.”

1 John 1:7

“ But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin

Walking with Jesus doesn't mean everything will be smooth sailing (John 16:33). But your faith in Jesus will carry you through the world that is full of darkness. Jesus doesn't say "follow me and do all these other things to become cleansed" he says to "deny the world and follow me" (Matt.16:24).

Lord I thank you for another day. Thank-you for your grace and mercy. For every time I have messed up Lord you did not waiver. God please open the eyes of the lost, help them to experience your gift,  who is Jesus Christ.  Change us from the inside out. Lord help me to focus on you and you alone, don't let the things of the  world  divert my attention from you. Jesus, we need you every day and every hour. I thank you for all you will do and have done.
Here am I send me.

In Jesus name,

Life in the Midst of a Storm

Ever feel like life just throws boulders in your path? Maybe you feel like everyone leaves. Or every time you feel you take a step forward, there seems to always be three steps back. Let me tell you I completely understand! But how will we react to each situation?

Sometimes life is unfair and we can't make out what our purpose is, but in these moments we need to trust God the most. This doesn't mean you have to always be happy but this means you can find peace in the Lord in the midst of the storm.

"Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus"~Philippians 4:6-7

He will give you a peace that passeth all understanding, we just need to go to God with everything so that He can hold our burdens. We don't have to carry that weight because Jesus took it to the cross.

"Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light."~ Matthew 11:28-30

Jesus is our anchor. When the storm is raging, the wind is blowing, and the waves seem to be overpowering we have to hold on to Jesus. This is what will keep you through every situation. Jesus says you will have tribulation BUT be of good cheer because he has already overcome the world! Isn't that awesome! When life is throwing everything your way, you can find peace in knowing the Lord is with you and He has overcome every circumstance.

"These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world." ~John 16:33

Lord, I thank you for another day! I must admit, life is tough and sometimes I feel like I am all alone but Lord help me to remember you are here with me. Help me to give all my worries/burdens to you. I pray for anyone who doesn't know you Lord that you open their eyes. Have mercy on them that they can experience your Love and peace when there seems to be no way.
I praise you, in Jesus name AMEN

Forgiveness is a Must!

Are you holding on to a grudge? Are you waiting on a apology before you forgive? Have you said youv'e forgiven but get fired up/ bring the topic up in conversations?  We need to forgive because if we don't it will hurt us.

Lets look at this parable Jesus tells us.

Matthew 18:21-27
"21 Then came Peter to him, and said, Lord, how oft shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? till seven times?22 Jesus saith unto him, I say not unto thee, Until seven times: but, Until seventy times seven.23 Therefore is the kingdom of heaven likened unto a certain king, which would take account of his servants.24 And when he had begun to reckon, one was brought unto him, which owed him ten thousand talents.25 But forasmuch as he had not to pay, his lord commanded him to be sold, and his wife, and children, and all that he had, and payment to be made.26 The servant therefore fell down, and worshipped him, saying, Lord, have patience with me, and I will pay thee all.27 Then the lord of that servant was moved with compassion, and loosed him, and forgave him the debt."

Peter asked how often are we are to forgive and Jesus responds, basically saying, keep forgiving continually. He goes on to say the kingdom of heaven is as a king taking account of his servants. This parable talks about a servant who owed a debt and did not have the money to pay it off. Well the fair thing for the king to do is sell what the servant has until the debt is paid off. But the king decides to have compassion and forgive him of the debt. What is forgiveness? Forgiveness according to Webster Dictionary is "to cease to feel resentment against (an offender) or to grant relief from payment of ".

Now lets read the next part of the parable:

Matthew 18:28-30

"But the same servant went out, and found one of his fellowservants, which owed him an hundred pence: and he laid hands on him, and took him by the throat, saying, Pay me that thou owest.29 And his fellowservant fell down at his feet, and besought him, saying, Have patience with me, and I will pay thee all.30 And he would not: but went and cast him into prison, till he should pay the debt."
Now look at this! Doesn't this sound a bit absurd? This servant who was forgiven his debt, turns around and throws another man in jail because he can't pay a debt.  Wouldn't you think that servant should show the same compassion and mercy he was shown for his debt? Now compare that to your life. Haven't we all been that servant? The wages of sin is death (Romans 6:23), but Jesus died for us so that that debt is no longer over us. So if somebody does something to us wether you consider it small or large, we are to forgive them.
Part 3 of the parable:
Matthew 18:31-34
31 So when his fellowservants saw what was done, they were very sorry, and came and told unto their lord all that was done.32 Then his lord, after that he had called him, said unto him, O thou wicked servant, I forgave thee all that debt, because thou desiredst me:33 Shouldest not thou also have had compassion on thy fellowservant, even as I had pity on thee?34 And his lord was wroth, and delivered him to the tormentors, till he should pay all that was due unto him.
Whoa! The servant was delivered to the tormentors because he could not forgive just as he was forgiven. This king takes forgiveness very seriously. He feels if I am forgiving you for a debt then it makes sense that you should forgive others as well. The servant felt like he deserved the forgiveness but once he was owed he wanted the payment. Lets compare this to life. You saying a person doesn't deserve your forgiveness is basically saying Jesus' death was enough for my wrong doings but another person wronging me requires more than Jesus' death to be forgiven. Isn't that crazy? How dare we suggest that Jesus' death is not enough for anyone doing a wrong against yourself. I feel that is basically spitting in God's face "saying your sons death is not enough".
Jesus ends with this:
Matthew 8:35
35 So likewise shall my heavenly Father do also unto you, if ye from your hearts forgive not every one his brother their trespasses.
I feel like this parable and this last verse shows just how serious the Father takes unforgiveness. This verse tells us the Father will do just as the king did to the servant. What did the king do? allow the servant to be tormented. God will let you be tormented until you decide to forgive. This just doesn't mean saying you forgive a person, but truly in your heart forgiving.  We will be forgiven our trespasses as we forgive other their trespasses.(Matthew6:14-15). Now Im not saying forgiving is quick and easy. But if you are holding on to something, then it will only hinder you. You need to allow God to work on you so that you can forgive.
~Lord, I come to you today asking you to search my heart. If there is anyone I haven't forgiven show it to me Lord and give me the heart to forgive. I don't want to hold onto any grudges or wrongdoings against me. Because God, you sent your son to die for us so that we may be saved, His death is enough. Thank you for all you have done in my life. In Jesus name. AMEN.
